Dato’ Dr. Jannie Chan – Founder and Chairman
DATO’ DR. JANNIE CHAN SIEW LEE is a businesswoman whose achievements are recognized both in Singapore and around the world. The Hour Glass, a company Jannie Chan co-founded with her husband in 1979, is a leading contemporary specialist watch retailer in the Asia Pacific region. From a one-boutique operation in 1979, The Hour Glass Group has developed a regional network of 24 boutiques strategically located in prime shopping belts in Australia, Hong Kong, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand.
Dato’ Jannie Chan is honoured to receive The WCEF World Chinese Economic Forum Lifetime Achievement Award (2012). This Award is awarded to leading global personalities in honoring of leadership, vision and excellence in their respective industry or profession. It aims to recognize the outstanding contributions and pioneering spirit of these individuals over their lifetime and career, in which they have made profound impact on society.
She received the Lifetime Achievement for Outstanding Contribution to Tourism Award in 2011. This award is the most prestigious in Singapore’s Tourism Industry, recognizing her efforts in championing the retail industry and successfully raising the standards of the sector. In Sydney 7-8 March, she is one of the 50 Australians and alumni chosen and honoured at Advance Women’s Leadership Summit
Born in Ipoh, Perak, Malaysia, she holds a Bachelor of Science in Physiology and Masters of Science in Pharmacology from Monash University in Melbourne. It is due to her admirable entrepreneurial skills, foresight and passion for fundraising that she was conferred with an Honorary Doctorate in Business Administration in 1999 by Oxford Brookes University, United Kingdom; in 2003, she was conferred the Darjah Sultan Ahmad Shah Pahang (DSAP) which carries the title Dato’.
Her family roots and background in pharmacology and business, combined with her passion and concern for wellness and for the environment has led her to establish Save Our Planet Investments, a holding company with businesses in lifestyle, forestry and bio-medical industries, focused on Global Wellness. Save Our Planet Investments promotes Global Integrated Medicine, a synergy of ancient cures and modern science, under the Scientific Tradition brand. It carries a range of lingzhi/reishi products, garlic, and other related wellness products.
Jennifer Lim – Pharmacist
Ms Jennifer Lim graduated with Master of Science (Pharmacy) and has more than 20 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
She has worked for local and MNCs. Started with the set-up of a pharmaceutical division for a local healthcare company and managed the business for 9 years. Following that, she set up the central laboratory and drug distribution centre for Asia for one of the world’s largest drug development services companies from the US. She then moved on to another US company, a leader in pharmaceutical product development, to set up the regional regulatory structure for Asia Pacific for another 8 years.
Prior to joining Scientific Tradition Pte Ltd, she was a Consultant with a US multinational medical devices, pharmaceutical and consumer packaged goods manufacturer, pulling together the regulatory teams in Asia Pacific into a regional network to support regional regulatory strategy for faster and smoother business execution.
Kelly Chen – Chief Finance Officer
Kelly Chen has more than 15 years of experience in handling Corporate Finance, Accounts and Treasury in various industries for both global and regional companies.
She was in charge of treasury and finance for a group of palm oil plantation companies across Malaysia under PPB Oil Palm Berhad (a main board listed, under Kuok Group). Worked for DFS Group Ltd, a USA multi-national company handling Asia Pacific group accounts/finance function and had being assigned the task of setting up retail stores in Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur.
She also has a fair stint working for a telecommunication company, ArianeCorp Ltd (SESDEQ company, Singapore) where she was in charge of setting up the China subsidiary.
During her free time, she likes spending time with her 2 sons and reading books.
